We are a Symphony Orchestra with around 70 members from Brighton University, Sussex University, Brighton & Sussex Medical School, as well as members of the general public. We don’t actually know how long the orchestra has existed, but some of our members have been with us for over ten years, so it must be longer than that!

The orchestra has performed in various churches and venues throughout Brighton & Hove, but our concert home is the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts on the Sussex University campus. We meet every Thursday in term time from 6-8.30pm and can always be found afterwards in the pub.

Our ethos is based on enjoying music and enjoying each other’s company. We consider the orchestra to be a community-centred endeavour, which bring together students from across a multitude of disciplines as well as full-time working members of the public and retirees. We have more than a handful of members who joined us as students and never left!

We pride ourselves on producing good music while also maintaining a firm foundation of inclusivity. We value our after-rehearsal trips to the pub, as well as our many socials (including laser tag, ice skating, Christmas meals, and the Performing Arts Ball!)
